What foods would you like to make?
I’d like to be in my own kitchen where spices line the shelves in mismatched vessels that remind me of apothecary jars. Butter would shimmer in the pan as I tossed in sweet onion and garlic, the scent wafting into the air — rich and enticing.
Outside, the garden is just beginning to bear fruit. I would step out onto the soft soil and gather ripe tomatoes, sprigs of thyme and rosemary – maybe a yellow zucchini. My hens might gift me an egg or two, still warm in the nesting box.
The simple ingredients would come together slowly – intertwining into a dish that tastes like comfort.
